Pacific City Family Photography | Oregon Coast

A beautiful summer evening for a family photography session in Pacific City on the Oregon Coast. Jenny and her extended family were planning a beach vacation in Cape Kiwanda. While visiting the area she thought it would be a wonderful idea to capture memories together on such a special family adventure. I helped suggest a great spot for photos and the best time of day.

On this day the summer weather offered up a gorgeous evening with a color filled sky. The perfect setting with Haystack Rock and Cape Kiwanda as the backdrop for this special occasion. We began our photo session on the sand near driftwood overlooking the ocean. Starting first with a large group photo of both families with the grandparents. To keep things casual and fun the kids joined together for some photos playing, running and jumping, capturing great candid photos. Then a group picture of the kids together. Smiles and laughter came easy with the Oregon Coast atmosphere.

While taking in the fresh ocean air and enjoying the sunset on the beach we captured a variety of fun group photos. Pictures including each family individually and the kids with the grandparents. I love photographing walking near the water on the sand combined with laughing and portraits looking at the camera. That way when Jenny and her family look back at their photo gallery they will have an abundant variety of pictures and poses to choose from.

Pacific City is a fantastic little beach town with the tradition of Dory boats. Fisherman will launch their boast right from the sand and out into the ocean, crashing through the waves. With so much great local seafood, lodging, hiking, horseback riding and miles of beaches to relax and explore, Pacific City makes for an awesome place for a family vacation. Pelican Brewery is centrally located in town right on the sand dune overlooking the ocean and Haystack Rock.

Along with Jenny and her family we slowly walked to the end of the beach where the tide pools and rocks are. Such a pretty place for looking around and taking photos. From the rocks we were able to capture Cape Kiwanda along with Haystack Rock in the distance. This Haystack Rock has a similar shape as the Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach. The one main difference is the one in Pacific City sits outside the shore away from the waves in the ocean.

With a perfect sunset, scenery and tons of happy photos on the beach we made our way back to the parking lot. Itā€™s really great getting to know the families that I photograph with. Stories from back home and why they love visiting the Oregon Coast. I will take on the role of tour guide as well. The Oregon Coast has been a very special place for me since I was a kid myself. So many great memories are created on the sand beside the ocean.
