When Travis contacted me to photograph his secret proposal with Erin I was super excited. I love the opportunity of capturing such a momentous moment for couples. Erin was unaware that Travis had a proposal in the works. They were planning on a relaxing vacation together in Cannon Beach. Travis reached out to me in advance looking to have me photograph from a distance and capture those candid photos of when he asks her to marry him.
Before the big day Travis and I worked out all the details to best capture their proposal. I provided him a map with estimated markers of where to be and my location. The perfect location with Haystack Rock and the ocean as the backdrop for such a special occasion. We kept in contact by text as well leading up to the session with any updates.
I arrived early and awaited Travis and Erin. They were staying right next to Haystack Rock at Hallmark Resort. Travis text me when they were walking out onto the beach and I kept an eye out for them. As I watch them hugging and enjoying the beautiful views I could see Travis reaching for the ring in his pocket. Travis got down on one knee in the wet sand and asked Erin to marry him. She was ecstatic as her eyes filled with tears.
Travis put the ring on her finger and they kissed with joy. A beautiful moment. He then shared to her that there was a photographer taking photos the entire time. I was a ways away with a telephoto lens so I wouldn’t be noticed during the proposal. I congratulated them and we enjoyed a gorgeous sunset in Cannon Beach at Haystack Rock. The clouds were colorful and reflecting on the ocean water. We photographed a variety of fun and romantic naturally posed and candid photos as the sun went down. They were now engaged!
